Open Education Resources
Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching, learning, and research materials that are freely accessible and openly licensed, allowing them to be used, adapted, and shared by others.
What Are Open Educational Resources?
OER can include textbooks, lecture materials, presentations, videos, images, courses, tests, and other educational resources.
What Makes a Resource “Open”?
Not every free resource is an Open Educational Resource. An OER should be available under an open license that allows others to reuse and adapt it.
The 5R activities describe the main ways openly licensed resources can be used:
- Retain — keep a copy of the resource
- Reuse — use the resource in different contexts
- Revise — modify or adapt the resource
- Remix — combine it with other materials
- Redistribute — share the original or adapted resource with others
OER at the University of South Bohemia
At the University of South Bohemia, Open Educational Resources can support the sharing and reuse of knowledge across teaching and learning. OER may be created by academic staff and students, integrated into courses, and shared through institutional and international platforms.
The university encourages educators to make their teaching materials openly available whenever possible and supports the development and use of OER as part of its commitment to Open Education and Open Science.
