Ethics Committee

The University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice has a university-wide Ethics Committee (EC USB). The main role of this committee is to assess submissions concerning compliance with the USB Code of Ethics, including issues related to violations of the principles of science and research.

Principles of Science and Research at USB

The USB Ethics Committee does not issue opinions or recommendations on proposals for research projects or studies that require such opinions and recommendations. This applies in particular to projects or studies involving research with human participants or identifiable biological material or data. The assessment of relevant ethical aspects of such projects or studies is carried out by the existing ethics committees of the individual faculties of USB. The opinion or recommendation of the selected faculty ethics committee is valid university-wide.
Further details on the issuance of opinions and recommendations on proposals for research projects or studies, including the thematic areas covered by the individual faculty ethics committees and the fees for issuing the relevant opinion or recommendation, are specified in Annex No. 2 to the Rector's Decision on the Establishment of the Ethics Committee of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, and in the Methodological Guideline for Issuing Opinions and Recommendations on Research Project or Study Proposals at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.
