About KreativEU alliance
The universities forming the KreativEU consortium have agreed on a common goal to establish a fully European university that will place creative potential based on European cultural heritage at the center of its educational, research, and knowledge activities. The partners have committed to long-term institutional, structural, and strategic cooperation and will jointly implement an ambitious but inclusive vision of transforming the study of culture, identity, memory, and heritage for the benefit of society.
On this solid foundation, KreativEU will provide the EU with innovative concepts, methods, and solutions to address current and future challenges, contributing to a sustainable and harmonious future for communities and the environment. Our comprehensive strategy seeks to instill a deep appreciation for the interplay between cultural and ecological stewardship and position the alliance as a catalyst for positive transformation at the local, regional, and global levels.
KreativEU recognizes the inseparable interconnection between tangible and intangible cultural heritage, as well as the interconnectedness of local and national traditions, crafts, cultural customs, and folklore. The alliance is dedicated to formulating cutting-edge educational and research programs that reevaluate these elements and their ecological surroundings, the environment, especially in the context of the digital age. This eco-cultural vision serves as the guiding principle behind KreativEU's efforts, ensuring that its initiatives not only embrace cultural and ecological interconnectedness, but also leverage digital advances to improve the accessibility, dissemination, and understanding of cultural heritage.

The new approach of eco-cultural identity, which goes beyond established approaches to cultural heritage, brings together the research perspectives of the cultural and natural sciences at the key point of the human being and can be described as the place where culture meets ecology. The eco-cultural identity approach recognizes that the environment itself and how we perceive it is shaped by cultural practices. This concept will thus foster a strong sense of shared purpose among KreativEU members, as it provides a bridge for more intensive collaboration beyond the social sciences and humanities with researchers across our institutions who are addressing key global challenges such as climate change mitigation, CO₂ sequestration, biodiversity loss, population aging, and the spread of zoonotic diseases.
KreativEU is unique in its kind, offering a competitive and attractive European education and research system in which students, researchers, academics, and society as a whole collaborate across cultures, borders, and academic disciplines.
