Lifelong learning - general description

Would you like to learn new disciplines and acquire new skills?

Education for the public

The University of South Bohemia offers not only university education but also vocational and recreational courses for the general public – Lifelong Learning Programmes (LLPs). The offer also includes the University of the Third Age for those of an advanced age interested in higher education. If you wish to expand your knowledge, skills and qualification, then you have come to the right place.

How to apply for LLPs

Take a look at the offer of LLP courses – conditions for admission and fees can be found in descriptions of the learning programmes – or see the list of contacts at USB faculties.

Why LLPs?

Our range of courses is continuously expanding and adapting to the participants. Our latest offer includes language courses, a course on “how to build a family tree” and courses on other interesting topics.

Courses at the USB have a long tradition and take place in high-quality facilities. Our eight faculties can provide you with a rich and versatile education.

What is the difference compared with standard studies?

As an LLP graduate, you will receive a certificate of completion, rather than an academic degree. You can use the library and the other information services and amenities of the USB required for studying in accordance with the programme.

LLPs can be attended for a fee. Unfortunately, we can not offer a subsidized price of meals in our refectory or accommodation at our halls of residence.

The reason for that is that Act No.117/1995 Coll., on State Social Support, does not class Lifelong Learning Programmes as regular university education and systematic preparation for future employment. Therefore, participants in LLPs are not considered students according to Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions.
