USB presented a paper on gamification in engaging communities in the care of cultural heritage at a prestigious conference in Brazil

In the picturesque Brazilian city of Florianópolis, the prestigious international conference on information systems and technologies – WORLD CIST 2025 – took place from April 15 to 17, 2025. This event attracted experts from around the globe who gathered to discuss the latest trends and innovations in the field of information technology.

At the conference, Dr. Vojtěch Blažek from the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Education of the University of South Bohemia (USB) presented an inspiring joint paper by the Heritage Game team titled "Gamification As A Catalyst For Community-Based Heritage Work In Low-Density Territories: Selected Best Practices From Europe." This presentation focused on the transformative role of gamification in engaging small communities in the care of cultural heritage and highlighted best practices from selected European locations, showcasing how gamification can spark interest in cultural heritage even in less populated areas. This is one of the key outputs of the Heritage Game project, which is the first initiative of the joint alliance KreativEU.

Vojtěch Blažek also presented the results of the Heritage Game project and introduced experts from around the world to the KreativEU alliance. The alliance aims to connect creative and cultural sectors across Europe and promote innovative approaches to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage – the University of South Bohemia is a proud partner of this alliance.

Participation in the WORLDCIST 2025 conference was a significant step forward for the Heritage Game project and the KreativEU alliance. Presenting their work on such a prestigious platform raised awareness of their initiatives and opened doors to new international collaborations and opportunities for further development.

Vojtěch Blažek’s team returned to the Czech Republic with new insights, contacts, and inspiration that will undoubtedly contribute to the development of further project activities. We look forward to the next steps and successes that cooperation within the KreativEU alliance will bring.
