From June 2 to September 30, the main canteen of the University of South Bohemia will undergo renovation. It will be new, modern, and more comfortable for diners. The biggest change will be the replacement of the kitchen equipment with more ecological and sustainable devices. The aim is to reduce energy consumption. The canteen staff are also looking forward to the new equipment, and at the end of the summer, they will undergo several weeks of training.
The most noticeable changes for diners will be in the interior. The floors in both dining rooms and the entrance hall will be replaced, and most importantly, new furniture will be installed to modernize and make the space cozier. As a measure for hot days, windows in the upper dining room will be covered to prevent the sun from heating the space.
There are also plans to renovate the restrooms and the canteen entrance to improve access for people with specific needs. The renovation will cost up to CZK 50 million excluding VAT.
During the renovation, meals will be provided in take-away boxes for diners. While the canteen is closed, staff will be trained, and will prepare a salad bar and other new features that will await diners from October.
The buffet in the Academic Library and the JU Café will operate throughout the summer without interruption.
