The Portuguese ambassador visited the University of South Bohemia

On Monday, May 12, 2025, the Rector of the University of South Bohemia, Professor Pavel Kozák, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Ondřej Pešek, welcomed the Ambassador of Portugal to the Czech Republic, H.E. Dr. Carlos Manuel Folhadela de Macedo Oliveira. The aim of the meeting was to present the activities of the university and its faculties, as well as to strengthen long-term relations and cultural exchange between the two countries. His Excellency the Ambassador was also informed about the involvement of the University of South Bohemia in the KreativEU consortium, which is mainly coordinated by the Portuguese Instituto Politécnico de Tomar.
One of the main items on the agenda was the signing of a Protocol of Cooperation between the University of South Bohemia and Camões, Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, aimed at supporting the teaching of Portuguese language and culture and the development of Portuguese studies at the University of South Bohemia. His Excellency the Ambassador appreciated the detailed presentation of the university’s and faculties’ activities and expressed interest in sharing future activities that will provide space for further deepening of cooperation between the Czech Republic and the Portuguese Republic.
Accompanied by Lic. António Laurel, His Excellency the Ambassador visited a class, where he briefly greeted the students and talked with them about the importance of maintaining Czech-Portuguese relations and the position of the Czech Republic and the Portuguese Republic in Europe and the world. The students were most interested in the ambassador’s daily work routine and also in current events in Portugal.
