The Milada Paul Award for Lifetime Contribution to Science goes to the USB Faculty of Economics

On 20 November 2023, the MEYS awards were presented in the Liechtenstein Palace. These awards were presented last night by the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Mikuláš Bek and the Minister of Science, Research and Innovation Helena Langšádlová. Since 2009, the Milada Paulová Award for Lifetime Contribution to Science has been awarded as part of these prizes, and for the first time ever it goes to the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, specifically to doc. Ing. Eva Cudlínová, CSc. from the Faculty of Economics of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The joy of this important award was shared by her colleagues from the Department of Regional Management and Law and the management of the faculty.

The Milada Paulová Award has been awarded since 2009 to female scientists for their lifelong contribution to science and outstanding contribution to the development of the field. The Milada Paulová Prize bears the name of a prominent Czech historian and Byzantologist of the 20th century. Professor Paulová was the first woman to lecture at the University since 1925, an extraordinary member of the Royal Czech Society of Sciences and later a member of the Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts. At the same time, she became the first ever appointed professor, first extraordinary and later full professor. It is through this award that the Ministry wishes to highlight the contributions of women scientists in the Czech Republic and to inspire women to pursue a career in science. The Milada Paulová Prize is awarded each year in a different research field. This year's award focused on the field of bioeconomy.

We would like to most sincerely congratulate Mrs. Assoc. Ing. Eva Cudlínová, CSc., and we are very proud that she is the first woman to receive this award at the University of South Bohemia.
