At the turn of May and June 2023, the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia welcomed a delegation of academics from the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo in Peru. The results of the MKM Erasmus+ project (2020–2023), which enabled both universities to develop their relations in the field of Spanish philology, were evaluated with the representatives of the partner university, with which the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia has been cooperating since 2018. Strategic discussions were also held on the possibilities of cooperation in the field of archaeology.
The Peruvian Universidad Nacional de Trujillo (UNT) was represented by Dr. Heber Max Robles Castillo, Dean of the Facultad de Ciencias Biológicas, on behalf of the UNT Rector. He was accompanied by Dr. Carlos Francisco Mozo Blas, Dean of the Facultad de Ciencias Sociales, and Mg. Zorán Herrera Mejía, Professor of Hispanic American Literature at the Facultad de Educación y Ciencias de Comunicación, who already visited the University of South Bohemia last year.
The delegation was officially received by the Rector of the University of South Bohemia, Prof. Bohumil Jirousek, PhD, and representatives of the Faculty of Arts, Dean Prof. Ondřej Pešek, PhD, Vice Dean for International Relations and Development Pavel Kral, PhD, and Director of the Institute of Romance Studies Prof. Jan Radimský, PhD. Subsequently, intensive meetings were held with representatives of the Institute of Romance Studies and the Institute of Archaeology of FAR USB, who visited the University in Trujillo last year. These meetings focused primarily on the evaluation of the cooperation in the field of Spanish philology. Further possibilities of joint academic projects and bilateral mobilities of students of Spanish philology were specified. Furthermore, ways of further deepening cooperation in the field of archaeology, in which both institutions have shown great interest, were discussed.
The delegation was also received by the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in Prague. The meeting symbolised the importance of relations between the two countries and confirmed the friendly bond between the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo and the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia.
Both representatives of FAR USB and UNT Peru appreciated the opportunity to meet each other and strengthen academic ties between the two universities. The cooperation between the two institutions is very important and beneficial for both parties and all participants expressed their hope for its continuation in the future.
