On the eve of the 17th November celebrations, a gathering of the academic community and the public was held at the University of South Bohemia to mark the International Students’ Day and the Day of the Victims of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy. After a short speech by the Rector of the University of South Bohemia, Professor Bohumil Jiroušek, and representatives of student associations, we lit candles and observed a minute of silence in memory of all those who have made it possible for us to live in a free society today.
