Representatives of the USB Faculty of Arts visited the partner university Universidad Nacional de Trujillo in Peru from 20 July to 1 August 2022. The visit included PhDr. Pavel Král, Ph.D., Vice-Dean for International Relations and Development of the USB Faculty of Arts, lecturers of the Institute of Romance Studies of the USB Faculty of Arts – PhDr. Jana Pešková, Ph.D., and Mgr. Markéta Šmídová, Ph.D., and lecturers of the Institute of Archaeology of the USB Faculty of Arts – doc. Mgr. Ondřej Chvojka, Ph.D., and PhDr. Jan John, Ph.D.
The first objective of the trip was to bolster the existing cooperation between the FAR USB Institute of Romance Studies and the Facultad de Educación y Ciencias de la Comunicación, implemented in the framework of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Project (2020–2023) and the Student Mobility Agreement. At the opening ceremony, the Peruvian side acknowledged the cooperation between the two institutions by awarding the honorary insignia of the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo to the members of the FAR USB delegation. The FAR USB delegation was also received by the Dean of the Facultad de Educación y Ciencias de la Comunicación, Dra. Aurea Elizabeth Rafael Sánchez. During several meetings, the representatives agreed on their mutual interest to continue the established cooperation. The aim of both institutions is to continuously promote international mobility, including virtual mobility, and to bolster cooperation through joint research projects in the field of Spanish philology. Lecturers of the FAR USB Institute of Romance Studies, together with Vice-Dean Pavel Král, also met with Peruvian students of Spanish philology, presented the options of studying at the USB Faculty of Arts and partial results of research conducted in the field of textual structures and discourse relations in a contrastive perspective. They also discussed the advantages of studying within the framework of the Erasmus stay at the University of South Bohemia with the students. For the winter semester 2022/2023, two incoming mobilities of Peruvian students at the USB Faculty of Arts supported by the Erasmus+ project, and one mobility of a student of the USB Faculty of Arts at UNT supported by the Freemover project are planned.
Another aim of the trip was to extend the existing cooperation to the field of archaeology. The Peruvian side expressed interest in the use of modern technologies for the research of archaeologically significant sites from the times of pre-Inca cultures. The specific possibilities of using these technologies, including joint PhD projects, were intensively discussed during the visits to these sites and subsequent meetings between representatives of the FAR USB Institute of Archaeology and the UNT Facultad de Ciencias Sociales (Dr. Luis Coronado Tello). These activities resulted in the signing of a Declaration of Intent for cooperation between FAR USB and UNT in the fields of history and archaeology with the participation of the Rector of the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo, Dr. Carlos Alberto Vásquez Boyer, and the Vice-Rectors for Student Affairs and Development. Through it, both sides formalised their interest in further bolstering the established contacts.
The cooperation between the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia and the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo was established in 2018 and is intensively supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in Prague.
