A lecture by the French Ambassador J. E. Alexis Dutertre at the USB Faculty of Education

A lecture on "The French Presidency of the Council of the EU" led by the French Ambassador J. E. Alexis Dutertre was held at the USB Faculty of Education on Monday 16 May 2022. The visit to the University campus was also attended by Ms Denise Panková Schránilová – Attaché for Decentralised Cooperation, Mr Eric Playout – Attaché for the French Language and Ms Véronique Debord-Lazaro – Attaché for Science and Higher Education. Together with the Ambassador, they were received by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, doc. RNDr. Helena Koldová, Ph.D., and other representatives of the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Arts.

The Ambassador outlined the three main areas of activity of the French Presidency: promoting the agenda of European sovereignty, building a new European growth model and creating a more human Europe. A part of the lecture was also devoted to current EU challenges such as the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis. The lecture was followed by a discussion with students who raised pertinent and varied questions.

We are glad to have been able to welcome such a visit and we thank the Ambassador very much for the opportunity to learn more about these current issues and for the time he devoted not only to our students.
