CV

Mgr. Jana Kozubíková Šandová, Ph.D., graduated from the Faculty of Education, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice with a master’s degree in English and German. She completed her PhD studies of English philology at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, Brno. In her dissertation thesis, she focused on a pragma-semantic analysis of linguistic means expressing speaker involvement in the genre of political interview.

From 2007 to 2016 she worked as an assistant professor for the English Department at the Faculty of Education, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, teaching courses in pragmatics, history of the English language, lexicology, introduction in English linguistics, and practical language. During that time she took part in several exchange and short-term programmes at universities in Augsburg and Vienna. She regularly attends national and international conferences.

She specialises in political and scientific discourse analysis. Her research interests include topics on the interface between pragmatics and semantics, e.g. pragmatic functions of linguistic means intensifying and attenuating the illocutionary force of utterances, expressing speaker involvement, pragmatic aspects of communication, intersubjective positioning in political and scientific discourse, etc. She has published several research articles in these areas and is also the author of the monograph Speaker Involvement in Political Interviews (2014, Peter Lang). Further, she focuses on ideology in political discourse. In 2015 she held a guest lecture called (Inter)subjective and Ideological Discourse Structures in Political Interviews at Universidad del País Vasco, Faculty of Arts, Department of English, German and Translation, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.
