USB at Země Živitelka 2026: Research and innovation, own food products, Čtyrák beer, and a presidential visit

The 52nd edition of the Země Živitelka agricultural fair is behind us. Over the course of six intensive days, the University of South Bohemia’s stand in Pavilion R3 was buzzing from morning to evening. Pikadors (hot dogs), fish soups, and burgers were disappearing at lightning speed, and the tap pouring our university beer, Čtyrák, practically never stopped. In panel discussions and media interviews, our experts presented current research, the development of modern technologies in agriculture, and the wide range of study opportunities at the University of South Bohemia.

At the USB stand, we welcomed numerous partners, collaborators, and distinguished guests. It was an honor to host the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, and his wife Eva. They tasted our university beer and fish specialties, and talked with USB Rector Pavel Kozák, the Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters Tomáš Policar, and the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology Petr Bartoš about current challenges facing Czech agriculture and the landscape, the latest research and drone development, and aquaponics. While Mrs. Eva held a live crayfish handed to her by the Rector, the President was pleased to accept an invitation to the University of South Bohemia for a debate with students.

We would like to thank all the visitors who stopped by the University of South Bohemia stand, as well as all our colleagues who looked after them with a smile and warm hospitality throughout the entire fair.
