Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Vladimír Balaš handed over the appointment decrees to 76 new professors today in the Grand Auditorium of the Karolinum in Prague. Among them are five professors active at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.

‘You have gone through a challenging process to the imaginary top of the scientific-pedagogical educational pyramid. Owing to your will and determination, you have managed to overcome many professional and life obstacles on this long journey. I believe that your productive work does not end today, on the contrary – new doors in your research and teaching opportunities are opening for you. Both as university professors and as guarantors of degree programmes, you will be both bearers and co-creators of the inevitable structural changes in the educational process. I strongly believe in your ability to take on new challenges, change established practices and introduce innovations in teaching. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you much strength, determination and success in fulfilling your mission. At the same time, let me wish everyone a Merry Christmas,’ Minister Vladimír Balas told the new professors at the ceremony.
Candidates for the highest academic degree are nominated by the scientific and artistic boards of universities. Appointment decrees are signed by the President of the Republic. He did so on 28 November this year.
