At the invitation of Her Excellency Janina Hřebíčková, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Montenegro, the Rector of the University of South Bohemia, Professor Bohumil Jiroušek, visited Montenegro on the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic on 25-26 October 2023.
During the ceremonial gathering on the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic on 25 October, he met with representatives of the diplomatic corps and cultural and political representation, he also had other meetings, among others with Vice-Dean Adnan Čirgić from the (independent) Faculty for Montenegrin Language and Literature in Cetinje.
The next day, 26 October, at the Czech Embassy, they discussed with the Ambassador and her colleagues the possibilities of Czech cultural diplomacy in Montenegro and then visited the University of Montenegro in Podgorica and its Faculty of Political Sciences, where, in addition to the working meeting, they also visited the newly unveiled bust of Václav Havel, which was created with the support of the University of South Bohemia.
The visit was a follow-up to the trip of the Rector and USB Vice-Rector for Foreign Affairs to Montenegro in October 2021 and supported the existing activities of USB and its faculties in Montenegro, as well as Czech cultural activities in the Balkans.
