The University of South Bohemia welcomed the EU attaché

On Thursday, 8 December, the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice welcomed a delegation of EU representatives. Together with representatives of the Statutory City of České Budějovice and the Ministry for Regional Development, not only the region, the city and the university but especially the important strategic and research projects were presented as part of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The two-day programme in South Bohemia began for the European Union Attaché in České Budějovice at the University of South Bohemia. At the beginning of the lecture block, the delegation was welcomed by the Rector of the University prof. Bohumil Jiroušek and the Mayor of the Statutory City of České Budějovice doc. Dagmar Škodová Parmová.

This was followed by presentations by the Director of the Department of Management and Coordination of EU Funds of the Ministry for Regional Development Ing. Kateřina Neveselá, Ing. Petr Käfer from the Municipality of České Budějovice, doc. Jan Mráz and professor Tomáš Randák from the Faculty of Fisheries and Water Protection and the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology, C. Petr Bartos and doc. Vladimír Žlábek. Doc. Žlábek also moderated the event and presented the activities of the South Bohemian Research Centre for Aquaculture and Biodiversity of Hydrocenoses CENAKVA.

The morning block of lectures was concluded by Mgr. Viktor Lavička with input about the transport in České Budějovice. It was to the Transport Company of the City of České Budějovice that the guests were directed, to whom one of the strategic projects financed by the European Union, the system for controlling telematic systems, was presented.

On Friday, 9 December, the delegation travelled to Vodňany to be shown some of the outputs of the strategic projects of the large CENAKVA research infrastructure. ‘I am very glad that we could participate in this event and that we could present at least partly the activities and research of the University to the EU representatives, which we can be proud of,’ concluded Vladimír Žlábek.

‘We very much appreciate the visit of representatives of the European Commission, the General Secretariat of the Council, other EU Member States and the Ministry for Regional Development to the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. From the feedback I had the opportunity to get, the participants were very pleasantly surprised by the projects presented and the opportunity for a broad discussion. On behalf of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, this was not the first visit of an EU attaché to our infrastructure, thus our university fulfils its role and actively supports the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU," added Michal Hojdekr.
