The University of South Bohemia is launching a Public Health program. Demand for specialists is rising

Graduates of the professionally oriented bachelor's degree program Protection and Promotion of Health, which the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at the University of South Bohemia will launch this fall in full-time form, will have broad career opportunities. These specialists are currently in short supply at institutions such as hygiene stations and many other organizations and offices, as confirmed by epidemiological and other events in recent years, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Applicants can apply to the faculty until August 23rd, which is the deadline for the second round of entrance exams that also applies to five healthcare fields.

The faculty thus continues a similar program it has offered in the past. “The Protection and Promotion of Health study program focuses on preparing specialists capable of performing activities in the field of public health, such as disease prevention and protecting the health of the population. This program includes both theoretical and practical subjects, such as anatomy, physiology, epidemiology, and hygiene,” explained Associate Dean for Study and Social Affairs Zuzana Freitinger-Skalická. She emphasized that the demand for these specialists is high and continuously growing, yet opportunities to study public health in the Czech Republic remain very limited.

Due to its focus on healthcare, social, and security fields, the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at the University of South Bohemia has all the necessary prerequisites for this education – it is an interdisciplinary field requiring cooperation among various sectors and experts. Moreover, considering societal development, it offers broad possibilities for education and career opportunities, which is very important for future public health professionals. The goal is to support individuals and communities to actively participate in activities promoting health and disease prevention, contributing to the overall improvement of quality of life. This newly accredited study program was established as part of the National Recovery Plan.

The Faculty of Health and Social Sciences has announced the second round of admissions for the following bachelor's degree programs: full-time Nutritional Therapy, Pediatric Nursing, Midwifery, Radiological Assistance, and full-time plus combined General Nursing. The deadline for submitting electronic applications is August 23rd, and the admissions procedure will take place on August 27th. Details are available on the faculty’s website zsf.jcu.cz in the Applicants section.
