The USB Orientation Camp is a traditional event for all incoming first-year students. It is organized by the USB Student Union with the help of other student associations, notably ESN USB Budweis, Jamfire and Pushrun. This year’s freshmen met at the Vranov Beach camp from 18 to 21 September. The programme offered a varied mix of teambuilding activities, practical information on studies and campus life, as well as sporting, cultural and adrenaline-pumping experiences. Students could try jumping stilts, swing jumps, volleyball tournaments, water football, bumper ball and much more.
New USB students were personally welcomed by the Rector of the University of South Bohemia, Pavel Kozák, who wished them every success in the upcoming semester and throughout their studies. Several deans also represented their faculties at the orientation camp: Dean Zuzana Dvořáková Líšková of the Faculty of Economics and Dean Petr Bartoš of the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology came to greet the students. Vice-Dean for External Relations Magda Zrzavá represented the Faculty of Science.
Thus, the Orientation Camp became not only a place to forge new friendships but also an opportunity for direct interaction with the university and faculty leadership, helping freshmen settle in more quickly and integrate into the academic community.
