In the prestigious “South Bohemian Nurse” school competition, the teams from the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences won the maximum possible: four trophies!

In the “South Bohemian Nurse” competition for health-oriented schools, which took place on Saturday at the hospital in Dačice, Team No. 2 from the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences won the title of Overall Winner. It also won its category designated for universities and Higher Medical Vocational Schools. The faculty entered three four-member teams in the competition, and they claimed the top three places, each earning a trophy. Thus, they took home a total of four trophies from Dačice! In their category, they competed against two additional teams from the Higher Medical Vocational School.
The teams from the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences were composed of third-year bachelor’s students: future general nurses, midwives, and paramedics. They demonstrated strong teamwork and empathetic communication with patients. They had to complete a variety of tasks at thirteen stations throughout the Dačice hospital. Throughout the day, they were cheered on by instructors from the Institute of Nursing, Midwifery, and Emergency Care. Dean Dr. Ivana Chloubová was thrilled by such a remarkable success and thanked everyone for their outstanding performances and excellent representation of the faculty. Congratulations!
The jubilee 10th edition of the competition attracted dozens of students from medical schools across the region to Dačice. In total, they formed 17 four-member teams and tested their knowledge in a series of theoretical and practical disciplines. In the first category, students from the Higher Medical Vocational School and the University of South Bohemia battled for victory. The second category was reserved for fourth-year students of secondary medical schools specializing in practical nursing. The competition took place directly on the hospital premises, where students at thirteen stations handled model scenarios, demonstrated nursing procedures, and showcased their patient-communication skills. Practical tasks were complemented by theoretical tests. The ceremonial announcement of results at the Beseda Cultural House brought immense joy to the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, as it won everything that could be won.
“We are very proud of how excellently our students represented our faculty. I also want to thank my colleagues from the Institute of Nursing, Midwifery, and Emergency Care for preparing them so well for this competition. We came to Dačice hospital to support them and saw that all the stations were very well prepared. At one station, we happened upon one of our teams and were delighted to hear praise for how well our students communicate with the patient,” summarized the Dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, Mgr. Ivana Chloubová, Ph.D., who was in Dačice from Saturday morning alongside other representatives of the Institute.
They agreed that composing the teams so as to include students from three programs (General Nursing, Midwifery, and Paramedical Studies) proved very effective. “They didn’t know each other before, and thanks to this mix they learned to cooperate and experienced multidisciplinary teamwork, which is absolutely key to success in healthcare,” she explained. Dačice Hospital also has an agreement with the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences as its clinical training site, where students undertake their practical placements. In Dačice, the Dean also met with the Director of the Nursing and Allied Health Professions Department of the Ministry of Health and the Chief Nurse of the Czech Republic, Mgr. Alice Strnadová, MBA. They appreciated that this competition provides a valuable opportunity to visit all hospitals in the South Bohemian Region.
