Hockey derby between USB and VŠTE took place

After a two-year break, the hockey derby between USB and VŠTE took place again.

The fifth year of the traditional duel has been organised by the Student Union of the University of South Bohemia and the Student Union of VŠTE. After more than two months of preparation, we could see a beautiful match full of interesting tackles. The game was opened by the guest of honour Martin Hanzal.

Martin has played 673 NHL games and scored 127 goals and 338 points for Phoenix and the Arizona Coyotes, Minnesota Wild and Dallas. The closest he came to a Stanley Cup was in 2012 when he played in the Western Conference Finals with the Coyotes. However, at that time he and the team lost out in a series with the later champions Los Angeles Kings. He currently plays for HC Samson České Budějovice, the team he founded himself.

After the first period, we could see a figure skating performance by Terezka Rožboudová. She gave a beautiful performance at the age of ten.

Summary of results:

1st year – 6:3 for USB

2nd year – 5:4 for VŠTE

3rd year – 4:1 for USB

4th year – 5:4 for VŠTE

5th year – 7:4 for VŠTE

Thank you for the pleasant atmosphere and a great sporting experience and congratulations to the winning team from VŠTE České Budějovice!
