Czech Society for Mass Spectrometry conference attracted nearly two hundred participants

On 19-21 November, the 13th International Conference of the Czech Society for Mass Spectrometry and 11. Informal Proteomics Meeting took place in the Auditorium of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The event was held in cooperation with the Biological Centre of the CAS, and the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, with the financial support of the South Bohemia Region and the City of České Budějovice.

The conference attracted extraordinary interest of the professional community not only from the field of mass spectrometry. There were 195 registered participants, 23 lectures, 14 short talks, and 55 posters presented.

Among the highlights were plenary lectures by prominent figures of world science: Alexander Makarov (Thermo Fisher Scientific), Bernhard Küster (Technical University of Munich) and Jana Roithová (Radboud University). The programme was extremely busy throughout the three days and offered a wide range of topics from different branches of the field, from the study of small molecules to the analysis of huge protein complexes. The lively atmosphere fostered a number of inspiring discussions that highlighted new directions in mass spectrometry and stimulated mutual collaboration to address upcoming scientific challenges.

Finally, awards were presented for the excellent presentations presented during the conference. The award for the best short talk went to Federico Brigante from Tomáš Pluskal's group (IOCB). The Lenka Hernychová Award for the best poster went to Michaela Myšáková from Kristýna Gloc-Pimková's group (1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University).
