On Friday, 29 May, the campus of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice came alive with children's laughter, competitions and a colourful programme. The Children's Day with USB took place on the meadow in front of the Kampa student club, organised through the joint efforts of the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology, together with the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences.
The event attracted extraordinary public interest, and throughout the afternoon families with children of all ages streamed into the university campus. Visitors were treated to a range of activities focused on fun, education and practical skills.
Children could try out physical games, logic puzzles, creative workshops or popular temporary tattoos. A bouncy castle, a drone flight simulator, a small robotic arm and virtual reality drew significant attention. Technical activities were also on offer, including soldering and creating pictures with a 3D pen. Visitors could mint their own coin and test their knowledge in various quiz competitions.
Further highlights of the programme included demonstrations of hunting dog training, a first aid presentation, and the opportunity to explore a tractor and take a ride in a municipal service vehicle. Sweet refreshments came in the form of ice cream and candy floss, which were among the most popular stops throughout the afternoon.
Together, the faculties created an engaging programme that combined fun, education and the presentation of various fields of study. Thanks to the involvement of students and staff from the individual faculties, the event offered children and their families the chance to spend a pleasant afternoon in a university setting while discovering the diverse world of the University of South Bohemia.
A bustling campus and the smiling faces of young and old visitors alike were the best possible feedback for the entire event.
