České Budějovice Half Marathon in the colors of the University of South Bohemia: congratulations to all participants, thank you to the medical staff!

Over the weekend, the streets in the centre of České Budějovice filled with runners who competed for placement and personal bests at the 14th annual Mattoni Running Festival České Budějovice. Athletes representing the University of South Bohemia were not missing, and we congratulate them on their performances! The Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of USB also deserves great thanks for its excellent representation of our university. On site were our paramedics, general nurses, physiotherapists, and teaching staff. They were active at the start, along the course, and at the finish line. The Faculty of Health and Social Sciences provided medical services throughout the entire event.

At Přemysl Otakar II Square, the faculty's stand offered expert advice on a healthy lifestyle, where students of general nursing measured visitors' blood pressure and body fat percentage. A total of 46 students provided medical services at nine checkpoints along the entire course during the main race. Five future paramedics cycled along the route, each prepared to handle more acute cases in their section. Six students managed services at the start and finish. Six future physiotherapists provided recovery massages of the lower limbs in the athletes' zone at the square. USB thanks everyone for their professionalism and dedication!

For this year's edition of this running celebration, we expanded the programme offerings at our stands. We offered taping for university runners on site, and for the youngest competitors we prepared a cornhole competition, where children tried to throw filled beanbags into a target. Both proved to be a huge success.

This year, our university also recorded a record turnout for the Rector's Cup race. A total of 80 runners from USB competed for it. The winner in the women's category was Lenka Sušková with a time of 1:33:22, and the top male runner was Petr Lukš with a time of 1:16:58.

The Rector's Cup race followed on from a running challenge in which 147 runners from the University of South Bohemia took part. Over 35 days, they managed to accumulate an incredible 11,521.6 km.
