The University of South Bohemia has taken another great trophy home from the Budvar Arena ice hockey stadium. In the tenth edition of the Battle for Budějce, the USB players defeated the BlackDogs Budweis team from VŠTE 5:3, repeating their triumph from the spring.
The tradition of student hockey derbies dates back to 2015, when the USB Student Union and the VŠTE Student Union agreed to jointly organize matches that would bring the two schools together. This autumn's Battle made history. More than 4,000 spectators came to the Budvar Arena: students, staff of both schools, and the general public. The stands created an amazing atmosphere throughout the entire match. Together with the spring round, more than 6,000 fans attended student hockey this year.
The University of South Bohemia players proved that they know how to win on the ice. The match was evenly matched and played in the spirit of fair play. We warmly congratulate the University of South Bohemia players on another victory. We would also like to thank the BlackDogs Budweis team for a great match.
The autumn Battle was organized by the BlackDogs team, and since the organizing role alternates, the spring Battle for Budějce in 2027 will be prepared by the Student Union of the University of South Bohemia. One question remains: will we fill the entire Budvar Arena in 2027? It is up to you. Come and support us.
Budějce is ours this time! Thank you to all the fans!
