A student of the Faculty of Economics of the University of South Bohemia became the first EU Careers Ambassador at the University of South Bohemia
The Faculty of Economics of the University of South Bohemia has scored a historic success. Karel Němeček, a second-year student of the bachelor's degree programme Regional Development Management, became the first ever representative of the University of South Bohemia in the prestigious international programme EU Careers Student Ambassadors, which aims to introduce students to the possibility of working in EU institutions.
"I applied for the EU Careers Student Ambassadors programme thanks to the Career Centre of the University of South Bohemia, which introduced this opportunity to students. I was intrigued by the fact that the programme allows students to represent their university and introduce others to career opportunities in the EU institutions," Karel described the path to his new position.
The selection process was not easy - applicants had to send a CV, a motivation letter, and pass a language test in English. "The application included a description of my field of study and how my field of study can relate to the European Union. It also included a language test to check my ability to communicate fluently in English. The selection was careful - it was obvious that the ambassador position was attractive and desirable, so I knew that it would not be easy to succeed. I was even more pleased to be selected as the first EU Careers Ambassador at the University of South Bohemia," said the young student.
The EU Careers Student Ambassadors programme operates at over 150 universities across Europe and aims to expose students to career opportunities within European Union institutions. The Ambassadors organise information events, workshops and meetings with students, work with careers centres and help motivate young people towards international experiences.
"I am really proud to represent my university in this prestigious programme. I take it as a great honour and responsibility, but also as an opportunity to inspire my classmates and to show that you can get from the University of South Bohemia to the very top in the European Union. This experience opens up new opportunities for my personal and professional development and gives me the chance to be part of a European community of students who are actively interested in the functioning of EU institutions," said Karel Němeček.
His success is another confirmation that students of the Faculty of Economics possess the courage, ambition, and skills necessary to succeed in the international environment. From the Dean of the Faculty doc. RNDr. Zuzana Dvořáková Lišková, Ph.D., he therefore earned an extraordinary scholarship.
