A graduate of the Faculty of Theology at the USB has received the Ministry of Education's award for extraordinary deeds and service to the needy
Lucie Diblíková (nee Vavrušková), a graduate of USB's Faculty of Theology, received the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports Award in Higher Education, Science and Research for her work as a hospital chaplain and her work with the homeless. Twenty laureates from Czech universities and the Czech Academy of Sciences received the award at the Liechtenstein Palace in Prague from the hands of Minister of Education, Mikuláš Bek, for their outstanding academic, pedagogical, and scientific achievements, as well as for their lifelong contributions to the development of science in the Czech Republic.
Lucie Diblíková graduated from the Faculty of Theology at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice with a Master's degree in Theology of Ministry and, in addition to her service as a hospital chaplain, during her studies she participated in the founding of the "K srdci" association, of which she is currently the chairperson. The association represents a unique civic initiative that seeks to help the homeless through personal interest and friendship, contributing to the intermingling of the worlds of the poor and the rich, linking social activities with spiritual life and a Christian perspective. For example, the association runs the Bethlehem Listening Room, organizes regular clean-up brigades and joint services, and pilgrimages, including an annual Poor People's Ball where homeless people meet representatives of the church and the city. Through a personal approach, the initiative aims to strengthen awareness of human dignity among those who have lost or are losing it for various reasons. In this way, Lucie Diblíková and the association she leads manage to put into practice the perspective of a graduate in a unique way that is inspiring, unique, and has a significant social impact.
The Ministry has been awarding the prize in its current form since 2014. The award may be given to a student or graduate of a bachelor's, master's or doctoral programme for outstanding achievements in studies or in scientific, research, development, artistic or other creative activities related to studies. The award is also given for an exceptional act of civic bravery, responsibility or dedication.
"The awardees include individuals who have significantly advanced teaching, research, and collaboration in academia. Their work is an example of what Czech higher education and science have to offer," said Minister Mikuláš Bek.
The University of South Bohemia warmly congratulates its graduates!
