Storytelling & Routes as Catalysts for Meaningful Experiences

KreativEU Walking Seminar in Breda, the Netherlands

📅 On-site week: 8–12 March 2027, Breda city and region
💻 Two online sessions: the week before and the week after the on-site week
📝 Registration deadline: 30 October 2026, via link

Breda University of Applied Sciences invites students and staff from across the KreativEU alliance to a Walking Seminar exploring how storytelling and routes can create emotional, symbolic and meaningful experiences that connect people to places, to heritage and to each other.

Why attend?
Over seven days and countless stories, the journey takes you to the Efteling, the Netherlands’ most famous theme park, then across the border enclaves of Baarle-Nassau (NL) and Baarle-Hertog (BE), and finally into the historic heart of Breda. Participants will:

  • gain concrete tools to apply story design principles to trails and public routes,
  • compare the controlled story world of a theme park with organic cross-border public heritage,
  • network with researchers, educators and students from KreativEU partner universities.

Who is it for?
Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students, as well as academic staff and researchers interested in storytelling, experience design, cultural heritage, placemaking and tourism management.

Format
The 7-day seminar combines 5 on-site days in Breda with 2 online sessions, held the week before and the week after the on-site week.

Places are limited. After the registration deadline, participants will be selected and contacted.
