Echoes of Valahia – Unveiling Myths, Craft, and Cultural Treasures
13–17 July 2026 | Târgoviște, Romania | for STUDENTS

Discover the cultural heart of Romania through an immersive Blended Intensive Programme organized by Valahia University of Târgoviște within the KreativEU Alliance. Combining an online preparatory session with a week of field-based learning, participants will explore Wallachia’s rich heritage through its myths, royal history, traditional crafts, UNESCO-recognized cultural treasures, and spectacular landscapes. Through site visits, workshops, and intercultural collaboration, students will gain new perspectives on heritage preservation, sustainable tourism, and cultural diversity.

Virtual Component (8 July 2026)

  • Contemporary approaches to living heritage
  • Myths and traditional crafts of Wallachia
  • Cultural treasures of the region
  • Landscapes, memory, and regional identity
  • International discussions and collaborative group work

Physical Mobility (13–17 July 2026, Romania)

  • Exploring the medieval heritage of Târgoviște, the former capital of Wallachia
  • Visits to Peleș Castle and the Azuga Royal Cellars
  • Discovering the monasteries of Sinaia, Dealu, and Viforâta
  • Hands-on workshops with UNESCO-listed Horezu pottery artisans
  • Exploring the fortified Maldărăști Kulas
  • Field visits to the Mud Volcanoes in Buzău Land UNESCO Global Geopark
  • Visit to the Amber Museum and insights into traditional amber craftsmanship
  • Exploring Potlogi Palace and the Golești Estate
  • Meetings with heritage professionals and local stakeholders
  • Fieldwork, case studies, and discussions on heritage preservation and sustainable tourism
