About event

The Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia is joining the nationwide Ibero-American Week event for the third time. The event is organised by the Department of American States of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. As part of the program, several thematically focused events in Spanish will take place at the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia.

On 14 May 2026, Peruvian writer Renato Cisneros will give a lecture dedicated to the work of Mario Vargas Llosa and his own literary output. The talk will take place in the presence of representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in Prague.

On 19 May 2026, a seminar by Argentine academics Gabriela Leighton and Rodrigo Jimen from the Universidad Nacional de San Martín in Buenos Aires will be held on the topic of contemporary cultural developments in Argentina, accompanied by a maté tasting.

On 20 May 2026, a ceremonial presentation of the complete editions of the literary collections Cuadernos Trimestrales de Poesía and Cuadernos Semestrales de Cuento — declared part of the cultural heritage of Peru — to the University of South Bohemia will take place. The program will also include a presentation of the work of Peruvian writer Marco Antonio Corcuera, prepared in collaboration with experts from the Faculty of Arts of the University of South Bohemia and the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo.

The events will be held in the presence of international guests and representatives of partner institutions with whom the Faculty of Arts collaborates within the MKM Erasmus+ project, and they will significantly contribute to the development of international cooperation in the field of Hispanic studies. Admission to all events is free. The program is open to students and the general public alike.
