The Importance of Diplomacy in Today's World - A lecture for students and staff

Matt Field, a British diplomat and the British Ambassador to the Czech Republic since 2023, will speak in the Auditorium of the University of South Bohemia about his long-standing experience in diplomatic service, about his work as an ambassador in the Czech Republic, and about the fact that diplomacy is not just about formal meetings, but also about constant engagement with the public and how it affects each and every one of us. How do modern technologies and social media change his work, and what is the role of a diplomat when the world is shaken by unexpected global events such as a pandemic or the war in Ukraine? There will be room for these and other questions, as well as for discussion.
