About event
The main theme of this year's traditional May collection is the prevention of head and neck cancers. In the Czech Republic, this type of oncological disease was newly confirmed in 2086 patients in 2023, with more cases occurring in men.
Czech Cancer Day 2026 will take place on Wednesday, May 13, and it will be possible to contribute in the traditional way by purchasing a yellow flower with a ribbon, this year in light purple color. Thousands of volunteers will offer them in the streets of Czech towns and villages, and each donor will receive an information leaflet about head and neck cancers along with the flower. The leaflet also includes an overview of free screening programs. The contribution amount for the flower is voluntary, but at least 20 CZK. Flowers and leaflets can be obtained at fixed distribution points until Sunday, May 17. A list of locations will be available on the collection website www.cdpr.cz.
From Wednesday, May 13 to Saturday, May 16, the Academic Library of the University of South Bohemia will participate in the collection, where it will be possible to purchase a flower. Last year, we raised 7,284 CZK by selling 165 flowers.
