On October 24, the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (USB) hosted a strategic conference on doctoral education, bringing together university leadership, faculty representatives, doctoral coordinators, subject council members, and PhD students.
The morning session featured faculty presentations on doctoral program development and funding strategies, followed by insights from Prof. Claudius van de Vijver (Wageningen University), highlighting USB’s progress in doctoral education and the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions.
Key strategic priorities discussed included:
1. Defining quality standards for doctoral research and competencies.
2. Enhancing interdisciplinary cooperation across faculties.
3. Expanding training in scientific, methodological, and professional skills.
4. Strengthening student support—both psychosocial and research-related.
The conference reaffirmed the role of USB School of Doctoral Studies in fostering excellence, collaboration, and student well-being across the university.
