USB opened the doors at all faculties. Applicants came for information about study programmes, they also saw the new auditorium

Hundreds of people interested in studying at the University of South Bohemia visited the Open Day last week. They came to see the facilities of the faculties, the campus, the newly opened representative auditorium, and to hear information about the study programmes offered by the University. Study opportunities were presented by 8 faculties on the USB campus and in the centre of České Budějovice, where some of them are located. Applicants learned which study programmes will be available to study and combine, including brand-new programmes that the University has prepared for the upcoming Academic Year 2026/27 at some faculties.

"At the University of South Bohemia, everyone will find their field of study. We have more than 200 study programmes at 8 faculties, where more than 10 thousand students are currently studying," said the Rector of the University of South Bohemia, Pavel Kozák, on the occasion of the Open Day.

For the upcoming academic year, the Faculty of Economics offers traditional fields of study supplemented by a range of new programmes that focus mainly on the needs of employers and the region. The first students started in the winter semester in the newly accredited programmes, Management and Economics of Sport, or Economics in the Energy Sector. Both new study programmes were in great demand among applicants. The faculty has also made the facilities more comfortable for students - they can spend their free time between lectures in a pleasant chill zone, and there is also a new room for international students.

The Faculty of Arts welcomed applicants in newly renovated lecture halls and presented opportunities to study historical sciences, languages, culture and art. The Faculty is continuously expanding its cooperation with universities around the world, e.g., in Latin American countries (Peru, Argentina) or African countries (Senegal, Gambia), where students can travel.

The Faculty of Education has traditionally offered a wide range of programmes for future teachers, which candidates can freely combine. A big novelty for the coming academic year is the five-year programme of study in teaching for the second level of primary school, in which students will not have to make the transition between bachelor's and master's studies, including the writing of a bachelor's thesis and the entrance examination for a follow-up master's degree. This is linked to an increase in the practice from the first year onwards. The Faculty of Education, USB is the first to offer this opportunity to future teachers.

The Faculty of Science offers more than 60 study programmes, the most popular of which are professional ones. The Faculty focuses on technically oriented fields, teaching and also biomedical programmes in cooperation with the České Budějovice Hospital. There were also examples from the study of chemistry, informatics or zoology.

The Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters offered the applicants a tasting of fish specialties and added information about fish processing. Here, students can choose from programmes focusing on fisheries or water conservation, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At the same time, a new experimental hall is being built in Vodňany, where the Faculty is based, to provide facilities for laboratories focusing on fish reproductive biology.

The Faculty of Theology presented its offer of humanities courses and conditions for full-time and combined studies. It brought together those interested in studying theology, philosophy and religious studies with applicants interested in working with people, i.e. programmes focused on education or charity work. The Faculty is also preparing to accredit the hitherto missing degree programme in sociology.

In addition to its headquarters, where it presented socially oriented study programmes, the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences also presented a state-of-the-art simulation centre where non-medical health subjects are taught. Here, future nurses, midwives, paramedics or physiotherapists have a state-of-the-art facility to prepare them for their future careers in the health sector. The faculty now offers a degree programme in Health Protection and Promotion, which will prepare professionals for work in public health.

The Faculty of Agriculture and Technology focuses on modern technologies and trends and also responds to the demand of companies in the region. It is adding two new study programmes for the next academic year - Production Technology and Handling and Transport Technology. The first students of these career-oriented programmes will join the faculty in the winter semester.

As with other study programmes in all faculties, applicants can fill out their applications now.

The University of South Bohemia strives to continuously expand the range of study programmes in line with labour-market demand and to improve campus facilities and those at individual faculties. For the first time, at the Open Day, interested parties were able to see the new auditorium, which has opened up great opportunities for the university not only for representative events such as matriculation and graduation, but also for prestigious international conferences and modern teaching. The canteen is also brand new after a summer makeover, the university will complete a renovation of the sports complex in the spring and a major revitalization of the campus will soon begin, with the addition of greenery, a place for sports and relaxation, and a pond.
