University of South Bohemia succeeds in THE Subject 2024 ranking

On Thursday 26 October 2023, Times Higher Education published an updated ranking that compares universities from around the world in 11 groups by subject area. The University of South Bohemia was successfully ranked in several of them among Czech universities.

The University of South Bohemia was the most successful in the area of 'Life sciences', where it ranked 2nd among Czech universities after Charles University. Worldwide, it ranked 401–500. In the subfield of 'Agriculture & Forestry', the University of South Bohemia is the highest ranked university in the Czech Republic.

The University of South Bohemia also shared the second place among institutions in the Czech Republic in the area of 'Physical sciences (Life Sciences)', where it was ranked together with Masaryk University in the 501–600 place worldwide. This is the first time that the University of South Bohemia has scored in this area.

However, the University of South Bohemia has also been successful in other subject groups. For example, in the area of 'Education (Pedagogy and Teacher training)', it shares the third place in the Czech Republic with Palacký University in Olomouc, where both universities ranked 601+ worldwide. The University of South Bohemia achieved the same position in the world in the field of 'Arts and humanities'. Here, it ranked 4th among Czech universities.

The University of South Bohemia also made it into the top 1,000 universities in the world in the area of ‘Clinical and health’ and in the area of 'Social sciences’.

To compile the World University Rankings by Subject, Times Higher Education evaluates institutions on a total of 18 indicators, which are divided into five areas (education and teaching, research environment, research quality, cooperation with industry and technology transfer, and internationalisation). The weighting of these areas then varies for each subject group.
