The University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice won the Rector's Award of the Czech University of Agriculture in Prague

On the occasion of the start of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the independent existence of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (CZU), the Rector of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, Prof. Bohumil Jiroušek, PhD, received the Rector's Award for significant contribution to the development of CZU in the field of science and education.

A total of eight institutions and companies received the award in the form of a bronze sculpture of the goddess Rhea at the ceremonial session of the Scientific Board of the CZU on Monday 25 April 2022. In addition to the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, representatives of Mendel University in Brno, the Czech Academy of Sciences, Česká spořitelna, MONETA Money Bank and the companies STROM ŠKODA and ŠKODA Auto also received the same award. The eighth award recipient is T-Mobile Czech Republic.

‘The time is out of joint..." remarked the Rector of CZU, prof. Ing. Petr Sklenička, CSc., and then put Hamlet's statement in a more optimistic context. Universities have managed to adapt and work in new, much tougher conditions. Moreover, they have become an indispensable strategic infrastructure of our country. They have proved their worth both during the pandemic and in the current aid to Ukrainian refugees.’
