Since 1996, the Association of Innovative Entrepreneurship of the Czech Republic has regularly announced a prestigious competition for the Innovation of the Year Award under the auspices of the President of the Republic. Over the past 27 years of the competition, 7,555 consultations have been carried out, 400 applications have been submitted and 324 innovative products (products, processes, services) have been evaluated. The number of innovative products awarded was 302, of which 51 were awarded the Innovation of the Year Award.
The aim of the competition is to evaluate and award the best innovative products in the Czech Republic, in all fields. Small, medium-sized and large companies based in the Czech Republic can submit applications. The conditions of the competition are as follows: - a new or significantly improved product introduced to the market in the last 3 years (product, technological process, service) must be entered into the competition; - the entered product must have already been successfully used (the product or service has been introduced to the market, the technological process has been put into practice).
This year, a total of 312 innovative technologies applied for this prestigious award. This year, on behalf of the Technology Transfer Office, we were able to enter a technology from the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology into this competition, namely: 'Method for preparing black garlic with antioxidant activity and black garlic prepared in this way'. Our technology was evaluated as TOP 10 in the INNOVATION OF THE YEAR 2023 AWARD, which is an extraordinary success. Dr. Jan Bedrníček and the head of the Technology Transfer Office presented and received the award on behalf of the collective of the originators of the technology at the gala evening.
