On Friday, 17 November, the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy and the International Day of Students, the Rector of the University of South Bohemia, prof. Bohumil Jiroušek, took part in commemorative events organized by universities, the Czech Academy of Sciences, the Student Chamber of the Board of Higher Education Institutions and other organizations in front of the Hlávka dormitory, at the memorial plaque of Jan Opletal and Václav Sedláček in Žitná Street and on Národní třída in Prague. At Národní třída in Prague, he placed a traditional bouquet of flowers on behalf of the University of South Bohemia at the memorial plaque commemorating the events of 1989 as a reminder of a significant day in our modern history. This visit was a follow-up to the commemorative event that took place on 16 November on the campus of the University of South Bohemia in the premises of the Kampa student club.
