Introduction:
In the face of current environmental changes, the preservation of the environment is becoming an increasingly important issue throughout the world. This is why environmental preservation is a field in which it is necessary to deploy a real management strategy, both at the level of companies and of public policies.
Environmental management therefore represents a challenge at all levels and it is a question of aiming for the legitimacy of projects and programmes, but also of their sustainability. The reflection on eco-management must therefore be based on pollution prevention but also on concrete mobilization actions.
How to integrate the challenges of climate change and water, air and soil pollution within organizations is therefore eminently linked to management. This is why it is necessary to know how to take into account the analysis and control of environmental performance if we want to protect rural landscapes in Europe.
The objectives of the thesis:
The main objective of this thesis is to answer the following question: What environmental management tools and strategies should be implemented to protect biodiversity?
Thus the general objective of this research paper is firstly to highlight the key principles related to environmental issues and sustainable development. Secondly, to understand how environmental management is an innovative solution for companies and public policies in terms of protection of biodiversity. Thirdly, to put into perspective environmental management in case studies. The case study will take place in the south-west of France and more precisely in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
The more specific objectives of this research paper are therefore to provide a theoretical and practical framework for environmental management, historical and conceptual references and finally to show how it is a future opportunity for European rural areas.
Research methodology:
In terms of methodology, this dissertation corresponds to a secondary data research study, analysis and finally synthesis.
In terms of case study methodology, it will involve finding a relevant case within the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region to study, conducting a survey (documentary research and possible interviews), analyzing the data (using swot or pestel analysis for example) and finally verifying the hypotheses (providing explanations in relation to the subject of the thesis).
