This master thesis aims to show what influence language and communication decisions have on external communication in internationally operating organizations. The research was done on the example of sequa gGmbH in Bonn, a non-profit development organization. Objective:
The aim of the thesis is to define instruments and mechanisms of language use and management in internationally active organizations. The main focus will be put on non-profit organizations and their internal as well as external language strategies.
Methodological approach:
The theoretical part of the thesis will provide definitions, historical background, and general theories of language use and management. In the empirical part, the language policies, use, and management of SEQUA gGmbh, will be analyzed. An overview of the language handling in the firm will be put together through interviews with agents from different projects and areas within the organization. These findings are to be compared to the theoretical findings in order to assess the situation.
