Zásady pro vypracování
The student will read the two famous novels of racial satire by two major African American novelists, George S. Schuyler (1895-1977) and William Melvin Kelley (1937-2017). After an introduction which will include both an overview of the treatment of black people after the Civil War in the South historically as well as the psychological aspects of miscegenation of black and white races and the consequential class distinctions which developed as a consequence, the student will examine the two novels. The analysis of the aforementioned aspects also require a knowledge of the race theory and some history of the periods in which these two novels are set, as well as some theoretical knowledge regarding satire generally.
