Informace o kvalifikační práci Pragmatic and Semantic Features of English and Czech Public Signs/Pragmatické a sémantické aspekty anglických a českých veřejných nápisů
This thesis deals with pragmatic and semantic features of English and Czech public signs. In the theoretical part, there are some basic facts about language, its functions, communication, and public signs presented. Moreover, the types of meaning within semantics and pragmatics are introduced. There is also a special focus on the Speech Act Theory, as introduced by J. L. Austin and later developed by J. R. Searle, and the maxims of the Cooperative and Politeness Principles, as proposed by H. P. Grice and G. Leech.
The Practical part is based on an analysis of English public notices, which are classified on the basis of Searle's Speech Act Theory and analysed from the viewpoint of the observance or non-observance of the Cooperative and Politeness Principles. Furthermore, each notice is compared with its Czech equivalent.

Zásady pro vypracování
Veřejné nápisy patří ke specifickému druhu mezilidské komunikace. Tato diplomová práce bude analyzovat anglické a české veřejné nápisy a jejich pragmatické a sémantické aspekty. V teoretické části práce se autorka zaměří na funkce jazyka a komunikaci jako takovou, definici nápisu, základní pragmatické principy (princip kooperace a zdvořilostní princip) a teorii řečových aktů. V praktické části pak bude analyzovat korpus anglických nápisů vytvořený během autorčina pobytu ve Velké Británii a porovná ho s českými veřejnými nápisy. Výsledky budou kvantitativně zpracovány a následně interpretovány. Jazykem práce bude angličtina.
