The Rector of the University of South Bohemia, prof. Pavel Kozák, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, prof. Ondřej Pešek, welcomed the Ambassador of Argentina in the Czech Republic H.E. Claudio Javier Rozencwaig, and the Secretary, Mr. Facundo Herrera, on Friday, 5 April 2024. The meeting, which took place in the premises of USB and the Faculty of Arts, was aimed at strengthening the long-term relations and cultural exchange between the two countries.
One of the points of the meeting was the co-organisation of an exhibition on the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Czech Republic and Argentina on the USB premises. The autumn exhibition will present the rich history of the connection between the two countries. The lecture series for USB students entitled Cátedra argentina will continue.
In the academic field, there was also a discussion on existing inter-institutional agreements with Argentinian universities (especially Universidad Nacional de San Martín and Universidad de Morón, Buenos Aires; more on the development of cooperation here) and the possibilities of extending them (to other disciplines besides Spanish philology). The representatives of both sides agreed on the need to strengthen exchanges of students and academics not only from Erasmus+ projects and institutional programmes, but also within the framework of the Summer School of Slavonic Studies and other projects.
This meeting represents an important step towards deepening the ongoing cooperation between the Czech Republic and Argentina and the University of South Bohemia is pleased to actively participate in it through educational and cultural activities.
