6th International Staff Week

November 26th-30th, 2018: the 6th edition of International Staff Week at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice was held in the last week of November, just at the time when the traditional Christmas market starts in České Budějovice and creates a magic winter-time atmosphere.

This year we had the pleasure of hosting a group of 26 colleagues working in International offices of our current and future partner universities coming from 12 different countries - Bulgaria, Estonia, Portugal, Izrael, Romania, Poland, Spain, Turkey, Slovakia, Macao, Hungary and Germany. All participants had a chance to get to know the university faculties in an exciting interactive way - learning about some of the top research activities (parasitology, molerats, sturegeon-friendly caviar, genetics and much more), touching and smelling original Czech breeds and other farm animals, flying the drones, measuring individual body composition using the Bodystat 1500 device and tasting delicious fish specialities produced by the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters. Unforgettable events were certainly also the guided tour around the Faculty of Agricuture brewery Čtyrák with beer tasting reception, concert of the students of the Faculty of Theology singing traditional Rorate caeli (Catholic advent texts) and guided tour around České Budějovice led by an expert on Czech history from the Faculty of Arts.

The learning and networking experience was combined with interactive workshops dedicated to current topics on Internationalisation at Home, International Marketing and Services for incoming students and staff, which were designed for opening discussion on practical topics and sharing good experiences and practicies within International office agenda.

The whole week program was enriched by the active participation of our students from all faculties, who guided our guests round the campus and its facilities, prepared workshops focused on Czech language & culture and Buddy system, led a "legendary" tourist tour in Český Krumlov and at any time talked and explained different issues about their study experience and every-day life at our university. Also international students were involved and shared their own experience and stories about studying and living in České Budějovice.

Cordial thanks to all our guests, students and colleagues whose enthusiasm and professional approach made the 6th International Week unforgettable and lovely!
