Short biography

Benedetto Giuseppe Russo holds a Bachelor degree in Humanities and a Master’s degree in Modern Philology at the University of Catania, with honours in both cases. In 2021 he successfully completed a Ph.D. in Italian Linguistics at the University of Olomouc, jointly with the University of Roma Tre, discussing a dissertation on the language models, the style, the pragmatic-textual aspects and the levels of readability of a corpus of reading books for primary school written by female authors for children (1882-1913). His interests, focused on linguistics and history of the Italian language, mainly concern the language of school / educational and entertainment books for children and young people in the 19th and 20th centuries, women’s literature, grammar books for school written after the Unification of Italy, the style of Baroque preaching and Giuseppe Ungaretti’s poetic language. He has participated in international conferences (including those of ASLI and SILFI), has published several papers in scientific journals and has held courses in Italian Linguistics at the University of Olomouc.
