The University continues developing cross-border contacts

On Wednesday March 11, 2015 USB discussed a collaboration with representatives of the Technology Centre in German Grafenau.

The Technology Centre - Campus Grafenau is a specialized department founded two years ago by the Technical College in Deggendorf (Technische Hochschule Deggendorf). It is located 50 km from Deggendorf and it serves as an innovation centre for the development of the region. It focuses on the analysis of the logistics and supply chain management, processing of large data sets (big data) and an effective use of advanced technologies and systems in the manufacturing process.

Existing activities and the vision were presented by its director Mrs. Diane Ahrens. She also presented proposals for topics that can be contemplated for the cooperation – an establishment of the tradition of joint conferences and staff mobilities, an establishment of the data laboratory for a popularization of the research work with large data sets, which would present this branch both to the public and to interested persons in the field of small and medium entrepreneurship or for example testing of the new teaching methods using modern technologies (distance learning).

Apart from the rector Libor Grubhoffer and the vice- rector for international relations Dagmar Škodová Parmová, colleagues who took part in that meeting were colleagues from the Faculty of Economics, who focus on the field of logistics, management of small and medium-sized enterprises and development of the region, IT experts from the Department of Applied Informatics at the Faculty of Science, who focus on processing of big data sets and also a part of a team which prepares a new field of study Cultural Landscape Restoration.

After a passionate discussion, the participants agreed on further steps aiming to apply for joint projects within the INERREG programme.
