On Tuesday, December 8, 2015 the Academic Senate of the University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice at its meeting elected a candidate for the Rector of USB for the term in office 2016-2020. The Academic Senate voted for two candidates, who were the current Rector of USB Prof. Libor Grubhoffer and the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Miloslav Šoch. The electing a candidate for the Rector was conducted by secret balloting, no candidate received the necessary support in all the three rounds, i.e. at least 21 votes out of 40 senators. Thus the Rector for the term 2016-2020 has not been elected so far.
The Rector of the University of South Bohemia is elected by the Academic Senate of USB, which has 40 members consisting of representatives of all eight university faculties. Each faculty is represented in the Senate by three academics and two students. The new Rector is elected if at least 21 senators vote for him. In three today´s rounds it has not happened. For this reason, the Academic Senate of USB declared the second choice of the candidate for the Rector of USB. It will take place on January 12, 2016.
The mandate of the current Rector Prof. Libor Grubhoffer ends on March 31, 2016.
