"Science for everyone" attracted hundreds of visitors

On Saturday, February 27, 2016 the University of South Bohemia organized an entertaining day with science.

The event, titled Science for everyone was designed for the general public, children and adults. Its aim was to present the university and the activities of its faculties in a playful and engaging way. The program offered experiments, demonstrations, competitions and games prepared and showed by experts and students from the university.

The program was prepared by individual faculties of the university. Exciting experiments in physics and chemistry were very attractive especially for children, who participated with enthusiasm. This show was prepared by the staff of the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Agriculture. The Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters and the Faculty of Education, were presented at various spots where the "little scientists" could test, for example, robotic toys and work with a microscope or watch live crabs and fish in aquariums. Tasting fish specialties also seemed to be a popular attraction.

With great interest, adults used the services of the Centre for the prevention of lifestyle diseases of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies, which offered at its booth, for example, blood pressure test, measurement of total fat, BMI and blood sugar.
