Professor Martin Hilský will get the award of Czech Head; the proposal was approved by the Government

The award of Czech Head, which is the highest scientific honour in the Czech Republic, a translator, Anglicist and Shakespeare expert Professor Martin Hilský will get this year.

The proposal for his award was approved by the Government at the meeting on October 12. Martin Hilský was nominated for the award of Czech Head by the Government Council for Research, Development and Innovation (RVVI).

The national prize of the Czech Head is awarded for outstanding lifetime achievements in research, development and innovation areas. The prize has been awarded since 2002. In the past, for example, the world-famous chemist Antonín Holy obtained this award. 

„Professor Hilský is a scientist with the world reputation as well as he is well-known popularizer of the extensive works of William Shakespeare. Therefore, the award of Czech Head belongs to him rightfully”, said Deputy Prime Minister for Science, Research and Innovation and Chairman of RVVI Pavel Bělobrádek.
