On 13 November 2015, the Election Commission of the Academic Senate of the University of South Bohemia published the names of candidates for the post of the rector of the University of South Bohemia in České Budejovice for the period from 2016 to 2020.

As a tradition all over the years summer holiday period at the University of South Bohemia is dedicated to summer schools and courses. This year, our faculties and departments organize 12 summer schools.
Mgr. Martin Palus, the doctoral programme student of the Infection Biology at the Faculty of Science of the University of South Bohemia, was awarded the prestigious prize of the Czechoslovak Society for Microbiology for the best young Czechoslovak microbiologist in the year 2015.
The long-time employee of the Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia, and one of the greatest experts in the wetland research and protection RNDr. Jan Květ, CSc, dr.h.c, received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
The University of South Bohemia finished modifications in the central part of the campus at Branišovská street in May. The modifications were done in two phases from spring 2014.
Streets, cafés, theaters and clubs in České Budějovice will be full of nearly 200 performers of all genres during the last week of May. For the twelfth time students for students themselves will organize Budějovický Majáles - the largest non-commercial festival in the Czech Republic. Part of the program will take place in the campus of the University of South Bohemia, which is one of the partners of the festival.
The University appreciated the outstanding Czech literary historian and critic Jaroslav Med and the outstanding Canadian expert in philosophizing with children Michel Sasseville with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa.
In the upcoming academic year the university will receive more than 2 800 applicants for the Bachelor´s studies and 900 applicants for the Master´s degree.
